The Macra Terror SYNOPSIS:
The Travellers arrive on a planet colonised by humans and are arrested and taken to the colony which resembles a holiday camp in the middle of a festival. The Doctor and the others find the nature of the society fake even to the colony officials of the Pilot and the mysterious Controller.
A colonist named Medok is persecuted for deviating from the society and alarming the populace of monsters that roam the camp at night. The Doctor believes his claims and the travellers are arrested for associating with Medok and all four are hypnotized all except Ben resist who happily goes to work in the colonies mines, mining a gas lethal to humans but essential to the colony.
His conditioning is briefly broken when Polly's investigations require her rescue from mind controlling, crab-like creatures call the Macra that are the colonies true rulers. She, Jamie, the Doctor and Medok are sentenced to a dangerous part of the gas mines for not conforming and uncover the full extent of the Macra's plan to get the humans to mine a gas production plant vital to Macra survival whilst posing as a holiday camp.
the Doctor's only weapon is providing enough inference and evidence to free the colonists from the Macra's mind control and find a way to stop the spread of the deadly gas.
